The Bethpage Lodge (1910-1960s): A Classic Repost from 2009
The Bethpage Toll Lodge at Round Swamp Road was one of the three original Long Island Motor Parkway lodges designed by prominent architect John Russell Pope. The above image shows the lodge and the Motor Parkway Bridge over Round Swamp Round around 1910.

The Motor Parkway Toll Collection Structures: #4 & #5 Great Neck Lodge & Kiosk in Lake Success
Going west to east, the third and fourth Motor Parkway toll collection structures were the Great Neck Kiosk and Great Neck Lodge located 350-feet east of Lakeville Road in Lake Success.

John Russell Pope’s Last Motor Parkway Commission in Garden City
William K. Vanderbilt Jr's favorite architect for the Motor Parkway was John Russell Pope, who designed the first six toll lodges and the Petit Trianon Inn. Pope's last Motor Parkway commission was to design a Garden City office building in 1912 to be built adjacent to the Garden City Lodge.

Then & Now: William K. Vanderbilt Jr’s Deepdale Gate Lodge in Lake Success
In 1906, William K. Vanderbilt Jr. commissioned architect John Russell Pope to design a gate lodge for his Deepdale Estate located in Lake Success, New York. Fortunately, the gate lodge is still standing and provides the opportunity for this "Then & Now".

Then & Now: The Annex to the Petit Trianon
When the Petit Trianon Inn was built in 1911 at the eastern terminus of the Motor Parkway in Lake Ronkonkoma, William K. Vanderbilt Jr. also commissioned an annex building for the staff. This is the Annex: Then & Now.

The Day the Garden City Lodge Moved- March 19, 1989
The Garden City Lodge was the fifth toll lodge built for the Long Island Motor Parkway. It was one of the six toll lodges designed by John Russell Pope with living quarters for the toll-takers and their families.
